Covers the analysis of geophysical time series and spatial data: quality control, gap handling, filtering, spectral analysis, correlation and regression under autocorrelation, and the estimation of uncertainty.

The course is required in every undergraduate ocean science program at the university. The requirement was introduced on the argument that a student unable to handle a messy time series cannot do the science, and the course is taught from real datasets with their defects retained rather than from cleaned teaching examples.

Programming is required. The course uses one statistical language throughout and includes an introduction for students without prior experience, though those students should expect the first month to be demanding.
