Oliver Brandt manages operations for R/V *Cascadia Strait*. He schedules ship time across teaching, research and external charters, oversees the crew, manages the maintenance program, and makes the call on whether a cruise sails.

Anyone wanting ship time starts with him. So does anyone who wants to know how much of a proposed science plan will survive contact with a fourteen-day endurance limit and a shared deck.

He holds an unlimited master's license and spent eighteen years in commercial and research marine operations before coming to Northmoor in 2019. He also runs the community tour program, which he maintains is the most valuable thing the vessel does that produces no data.
